Codornices Creek at
Oxford

N 37.88428°, W 122.26761°

Upstream of Oxford the creek is underground for a block or so. This is the famous Byrne / Beth El land, which was the subject of much controversy in Berkeley in 2001. Lots more info is available at Live Oak / Codornices Creek Neighborhood Association. In 2003 Beth El finally started construction on their new temple here. The first thing they did was clear the land. The second thing was restore the creek, changing an ugly overgrown pit into a nice canyon with a series of pools and drops. Once the vegetation grows in it will be beautiful.
