ACME Updates
09aug2018 ACME Mapper Options Updated
I have finished updating
Mapper's
Options popup.
Some things to note:
- The layers control can be set to be always open, instead
of opening on hover.
Some folks have asked for this, and now they have it.
-
The scale widget can be set to show meters/kilometers, feet/miles, or both.
-
Scroll-wheel zoom can be set to zoom at the mouse pointer
instead of at the map center.
I personally prefer the map-center zooming - it seems to me
that using the scroll-wheel is not a location-specific
gesture, so it should apply to the map as a whole.
But obviously many people feel differently, since both Google and
leaflet make zooming at the pointer the default behavior.
Well, now you can change Mapper's behavior back to that
default if you want.
-
The flickr controls have moved to the main control panel,
but they don't show up by default.
The Options popup now has a checkbox.
Click it and the flickr controls show up on the control panel.
I also added a text search field for flickr.
Leave it empty and you get all photos in the area; type something
and you get photos that match the string.
I may improve this later to have some way of searching for
specific usernames, groups, etc.
One interesting thing to note about the options - the ones
in the section titled "General Map UI" apply not just to Mapper
but to all maps hosted on acme.com -
Planimeter,
Two Maps One Scale,
everything.
So even though the other maps don't have their own Options
popup, you can still set their options using Mapper's popup.
Getting this to work was a little tricky.
I also updated the
About page
to reflect the new UI.
