Back in April I had to turn off https service for a month due to getting hammered by LLM scraper bots. I eventually found a software fix that lowered the impact by a lot, so I could turn https back on.
Unfortunately the scraper bot traffic has continued to grow, and now even with the previous fix they are causing problems. I have turned https off again. This time fixing it might require new hardware to handle the load. I have no estimate for when that might happen.
Regular http service remains unaffected.
