25apr2000 Albany Dump
A little photo trip to the old Albany dump to see a dead whale. Other sightings: some goslings, and a bunch of weird art.

01apr2000 Beach
A day trip to Limantour Spit.

24mar2000 Ferry
An excursion to SF with return on the Richmond ferry.

03mar2000 Backyard
Spring is approaching in my backyard cactus bed.

06feb2000 Red Oak Victory
A second visit to the Red Oak Victory, a WWII ship being restored at Point Richmond.

25nov1999 Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving at my parents' house, with lots of nephews etc. in attendence.

28oct1999 Big Thursday
A bike + photo trip along the San Francisco waterfront and the Marin headlands. I called it Big Thursday because the surfers were all abuzz over the very large waves hitting that day. However I happened to get to Fort Point, a prime wave-observing spot, during a lull, so no big wave pix for me. I did pick up a few nice shots of the Nike missile installations in Marin, though.

25oct1999 Backyard
Here I started using a Sony Mavica FD-91 digital camera. It has a resolution of 1024x768 pixels, which is less than I'd prefer. However it also has a totally kick-ass 14x zoom lens with optical image stabilization and super-macro. In this session I was just taking test shots of stuff in my backyard, but some of them turned out nice enough to be keepers.

1999. A Drawbridge pic, more construction, the Albany landfill, Sutro Baths, Seaview Trail in Tilden, Stanford Art Museum.

1999. Closeups of copper pipe, closeups of pebbles, a field trip to Agate Beach, more soapbox racing, and a ghost cat.

1998. Bike trip on Wildcat Ridge, giant foam Legos, Burningman 1998, various strange metal objects, and the Red Oak Victory the day it pulled into Richmond. On my second roll of Velvia 50, I started setting the camera to ASA 40. Got this tip from Galen Rowell and it works great, brightening things up a little.

1998. Some garden pix, and a bunch of shots at the Lawrence Hall of Science. Starting here I switched film from Kodachrome 64 to Fuji Velvia 50. This was originally scanned as disc 3418, but when I got it back I immediately noticed that every frame had the same greasy hairy blotch on it. I checked the slides and they were clean, so I sent them back to be re-scanned. It took three tries, but eventually Kodak capitulated. This is part of the reason I don't use PhotoCD any more.

1997. Some pictures of crafts projects I've made, a beach trip with people in a large hole, strange stuff on SF's waterfront, the soapbox races again, one more shot of the old Oakland train station, plus the Sacramento train station.

1997. NASCAR racing, the old Oakland train station, still more construction shots, a WeLL picnic, and a giant tooth.

1997. Bodie, a ghost town up near Mono Lake. Then a trip to Hawaii (more lava!), another ex-girlfriend, and a bunch of construction and de-construction pix.

1996. A bike & camera trip around Point Richmond, and Burningman 1996.

1996. This disc includes a roll from a sea kayaking trip using a disposable waterproof camera. Also a lot of construction-site shots, trips to Mt. Tam, Yosemite again, Arch Rock at Point Reyes, Mt. Diablo, Big Sur. Plus my collection of Hello Kitty Heads.

1995. Lots of outdoor pix - trips to Sunol, Yosemite, Desolation Wilderness. A photo-essay of the Bevatron. Couple of beach trips, the San Francisco Illegal Soapbox Races, and some weird houses.

1995. Some nature shots, a couple of my nephew Felix, an interesting reverse fog in the Berkeley hills, the old Point Molate whaling station, and one excellent picture of my cat Sid. From here until 1998 I'm using Kodachrome 64.

PhotoCD 0679
1990-1994. Still more old slides. A few Hawaii shots (lava is nifty), a bunch of friends and old girlfriends, a couple of me.
